Kevin Nolan
Hello again!

It’s been a few months since I left the Club, but you can be sure I’ve been keeping a close eye on how the boys have been getting on – and I’ve been really impressed.

The lads have done absolutely fantastic. It was always a risk to change over so many players in the summer, but Slaven has come in and knew exactly how he wanted to go about things, and the lads have really bought into it.

He had a great core of lads already at the Club when he arrived, which has obviously helped, but you can see that the new and old players have a great camaraderie. You can see how well they are playing and how hard they are working for each other.

It is great to see the Club striving forward. When you look at where we were five years ago when I arrived, the Club was in a bit of a sorry state and everyone was feeling sorry for themselves.

Since then, everyone has really executed well and we are now in a really exciting year for everyone associated with the Club – West Ham are playing great stuff, are fifth in the table and looking comfortable against every team they face.

I’ll be watching the game at one of my other former clubs, Newcastle United, on Saturday, and I am anticipating an exciting 90 minutes. Newcastle came back well against Manchester United on Tuesday, but I think they play open and West Ham can exploit them with their counter-attacking style.

As my last club, I want West Ham to do well this year, but I also want Newcastle to stay up, which I am sure they will do with the quality they have up there.

Off the pitch, everyone I speak to is really excited about the Stadium move and where it could take the Club in the future.

I still live in Essex and when I’m out and about it is great to meet fans, shake hands and be thanked and recognised for the role I have played in recent seasons, scoring my share of goals and as captain. I’ve always said how much I enjoyed being part of such a big Club and that will never change.

Nobes has done a great job as captain this season and I’m delighted that he has asked me to play in his Testimonial match in March.

I’m really looking forward to it, because when you leave a Club you don’t get the chance to say goodbye and show your appreciation to the fans, your teammates and the staff for the support you have received.

I spent four really good seasons with West Ham and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Club, so it will be a nice touch to be out there with all the lads again – the current squad, the boys I played alongside during my four years at the Club, and loads of other Hammers legends.

Although I am not training with a Club now, I have been keeping myself fit and ticking over. I am doing regular gym sessions with a lad called Jamie Goldsmith, who was part of the backroom staff for a couple of seasons at West Ham. I am ready to go, when the chance comes around to play again.

I am looking forward to seeing you all again for Nobes’ Testimonial on 28 March.

Come on you Irons!

Nobby

Wow Kevin posts here!!
What is this crap?
Redknapp was a great manager, I really enjoyed him being at the club and regret his sacking. Regret the sacking because we went backwards with Roeder and it started a really big mess. In hind sight we should have either stuck with Redknapp or had a better manager lined up before the sacking. Brown was an idiot.

"'yeah I signed him but he after a few weeks he wanted to leave and join Tottenham but I talked him out of it.'"

So, even back they the Yiddycoys were up to their dirty, underhand tricks.

Figures, I suppose.

Re: Kevin Nolan
Let's add Redknapp to that list.

I saw him a few weeks ago as a pundit and he was asked about Bilic. He said something along the lines of : 'yeah I signed him but he after a few weeks he wanted to leave and join Tottenham but I talked him out of it.'

Even if that is true why bring it up now except to try to poison the relationship between Bilic and the fans?

Redknapp has always been and will always be a complete tosser.

Claret, it seems it has so pissed off some posters that he's nice about us though.

Re: Kevin Nolan
Seems to be a nice enough email, he wishes the club well, says we have a good group of players etc etc. Fair play to him.

Re: Kevin Nolan
Read the first sentence of CHL 5.50, where by implication he groups Nolan in with BFS supporters in the media anticipating us failing.

By all means level criticism at the Nolan that was here for last season but don't let people invent or imply things simply to back up their dislike of an individual.

Nolan is not part of the media coterie that cannot get over BFS leaving here and oddly it seems the BFS haters amongst us are as obsessed as the BFS loving pundits.

You also seem to have missed the fact that no one has said he has said anything negative?

Re: Kevin Nolan
Nice read. His legs had gone at the end but he was a good captain and helped us through a pretty bad time. Cheers Kev

Re: Kevin Nolan
I have completely missed any sign of Kevin Nolan saying or indicating anything negative about us this season. Can someone point me to it so that I can froth?

Re: Kevin Nolan
Indeed, Buster son. I still fucking cringe thinking about the shit I was reading on here before we'd even kicked a ball in the Premiership, the thread after one of the European dead rubbers was a serious embarrassment. Brand new manager, still finding out who can do what from a squad who had won 3 games in 5 months previously, all at home against shit teams, and some of our fans genuinely wanted him sacked. Fucking unreal.

As for Nolan, credit the first 2 seasons, but I can't have too much respect for a professional footballer, club captain, who can't be bothered to keep himself in absolute prime nick when getting paid the sort of money he was on. It's fucking disgusting.

Re: Kevin Nolan
'or just half of WHO, who wanted Bilic sacked in pre-season?'

Some of those would still take great pleasure in seeing it all go tits up for him.

'I'm afraid he is another of the many (pundits / media / Sam's cronies / Keys & Gray) who have spent the early part of the season rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of us failing so they could wallow in it.

Our positive form has gone on so long now that some are realising it's not just a flash in the pan, and of course (in the self serving way most of them adopt), they are now killing each other in the rush to jump on our bandwagon.'

The many pundits, or just half of WHO, who wanted Bilic sacked in pre-season?

I suspect it went something like:

SA: "Kev, are you good enough to play in the crucial game tomorrow?"

KN" "Yes, boss."

The issue being the difference between what Nolan thought was "good enough" and what was really "good enough".

Every player wants game time, but to grab match minutes under false pretences does not show a love for the club, only a love for oneself.

I'm afraid he is another of the many (pundits / media / Sam's cronies / Keys & Gray) who have spent the early part of the season rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of us failing so they could wallow in it.

Our positive form has gone on so long now that some are realising it's not just a flash in the pan, and of course (in the self serving way most of them adopt), they are now killing each other in the rush to jump on our bandwagon. Plus, history shows that all this sudden media attention to clubs outside the 'Top 4/5' does have an effect, and is often a forerunner to the wheels coming off.

They didn't want to know us at the start of the season, and we should now reciprocate.

"Silent but Deadly" will do nicely. We really do need to keep our own counsel at this time.

Let's keep "Doing the Slav" i.e. be complimentary and accommodating about other clubs (whilst plotting their downfall in the background) and by keeping the media and bloodsuckers / hangers on firmly at arms length.

You're gone from here, Mr Nolan... we promise not to discuss you if you promise not to discuss us.

Re: Kevin Nolan
We gave him a 5 year deal to get him here. Turned out to be 2 years too long but he did enough in his first 3 years to warrant the investment.

Not the sort of player you enjoy watching play, but someone who played an important role in getting the club where it is.

Re: Kevin Nolan
Good for the first couple of seasons, but dipped dramatically after.

Was not helped by BFS and his insistance on playing him from the start, where he should have been an impact sub.

Hold nothing against him.
